Dr Tony Gregson will discuss some of the good and bad news about the future of broad acre grain growing and finish with some information on the Svalbard Global Seed Vault.

Biography

Dr Tony Gregson is a grain grower from the Wimmera region in Victoria. He has degrees in science (PhD and DSc Melb) and taught chemistry in Oxford, UNE and UNC Chapel Hill.

Since returning to the family farm in 1981 he has been a Board Member of the CSIRO, the GRDC, the Rural Finance Corporation of Victoria, ANSTO, CIMMYT in Mexico, and a Commissioner of the Rural City of Horsham and the Australian Centre for International Research; and Chairman of the CRCs for Plant Science and Molecular Plant Breeding, Bioversity International in Rome and Plant Health Australia.

Currently he is Chairman of the Melbourne University Botany Foundation, a member of the FAR Board in NZ, the Crawford Fund and RIST in Hamilton.
